I'm Mister Harms, and I teach middle and high school social studies in a small-town school. I started my career at the turn of the millennium, and over the past 25+ years, my classroom has grown far beyond my hometown. Today, I am incredibly honored to share my resources with over 100,000 educators and reach millions of students worldwide through my 7 million+ YouTube views.
Teaching is in My Blood
I am proud to be a fourth-generation teacher. My great-grandfather taught in a one-room schoolhouse making just $35 a month! My grandmother also started in a one-room schoolhouse and eventually became my 3rd-grade teacher. With both of my parents as career teachers, several siblings in education, and my amazing wife teaching Kindergarten, you could definitely say this profession runs in the family.
Now, I get the privilege of teaching the next generation. I have enjoyed every step of the way, and it's deeply fulfilling to have a positive influence on our young people.
My Philosophy: Engaging Social Studies Curriculum
When it comes to my teaching style, I believe history, civics, and economics shouldn't be boring. My goals in the classroom are simple but ambitious:
Student Engagement: Creating hands-on activities and simulations that make learning fun and memorable.
High-Quality Content: Delivering rigorous, diversified learning for middle and high school students.
Group Collaboration: Building resources that add real value to students' lives and help them grow as individuals.
I use this platform to stay engaged, learn from other amazing educators, and pursue my desire to be rooted in truth, growing in freedom, and prospering in all of life!
Beyond the Classroom
When I’m not teaching or building new lesson plans, I loved helping lead a summer youth camp focused on life transformation. I am a cancer survivor who absolutely loves life, and I enjoy traveling with my family—we even hit our massive goal of visiting all 50 states!
